Installation guide

1. Download

This installation guide is intended to guide you through the download process. There are two choice of files to download and install : a compressed file (.zip) or an exe file (executable).

Tips for downloading our files

1. When you download a file, make sure you know where the download goes on your computer, because you will have to find it and double-click on it.

2. Before downloading a file, please note the file size, so as to make sure that the downloading has completed successfully. Our programs always provide the size of the file you are to download.

3. If you are using an old browser or if you have trouble downloading a file, right click on the link and choose "Save target as".

4. Some users reported a bug with Opera, it seems that this browser doesn't recognize exe files made with Winzip and it tries to display them rather than prompting for download.

5. If the download was interrupted (your internet connection closed etc), try to download again. But be careful, sometimes the corrupted file is kept in memory (this is a common process on the Web, things you see are kept in memory so as to be displayed faster when you see them again) and you just download it again. To solve the problem, empty your cache (i.e. delete your temporary Internet files), or, if the cache is elsewhere, just be patient before trying to download again.

2. Installation of the program (executable file - .exe)

All Purpose Software products are designed to run with Windows.

All our products are stand alone. Installing our programs are very easy :

Download the program;
Whichever method you used to download the program, either extract the file (.zip) or simply double-click on the program .exe file;
Use the icon created in your Start menu to launch the dictionary.

3. Installing an update

Installing an update is just as easy. Normally you will be sent the update in an email. This update is merely the working (executable) file, not the entire setup file. You can check this by looking at the size of the update file agains the install file, the update file will be smaller.

To add the update to your program file folder under APSW:

Right click on the update file and choose copy.
Go to the Program Files - APSW folder and right click paste, you will be asked if you wish to overwrite the current file, select yes.

4. Uninstallation of the program

Go to control panel and click on 'Add/Remove Programs'

Find the APSW program you wish to uninstall

Choose 'Remove'Thats pretty much it. The program is now uninstalled.
